Honestly, that's what I would do if I was him. He likely obtained a loan and will simply claim bankruptcy to avoid financial burden if CSE goes bankrupt. Also, don't be so sure MJ "used his own money" to partially fund CU either. If Ragnarok is what is going to keep the ship running, you better be damn sure they are going all hands to get it done. And if you think for 2 seconds that MJ wasn't lying about using CU staff resources(and probably most if not all) for Ragnarok, well I'm sorry friend then no amount of convincing will help you. I've been in management and seen the bold faced lies they tell because it's "for the greater good, ignorance is bliss". Trust me when I say, you have no idea what goes on behind closed doors financially. Sometimes they will even put up their assets as collateral. They expect a certain amount of progress or ROI, and if it's not met they can pull out and CSE would lose their investors. They don't just hand them all of the money for free and say "have at it". For those unaware, investors tend to disperse funds in increments based on certain criteria. They needed something workable and doable fast if they were to keep investors interested. The Ragnarok announcement was practically akin to CU losing steam. It's a defensive excuse and a get out of argument free card when it comes to questions on why the NDA isn't lifted, why still in beta 1 after 2 years, and overall why we don't have any semblance of a game. ![]() It's an asinine excuse and only the deepest of those in delusion would think that in any way is for the benefit of the backers or the game. ![]() You marketed the game the moment you got funded on KS. He set this tone from the beginning so that he can point at it and say "Look, see, I said before we aren't interested in hyping the game or marketing the game before we are ready". MJ set the tone for low expectations and doubles down on that front whenever he is confronted with the fact that he still has an NDA and no game to show for it after 7 years. If you had any hope this game would succeed you would absolutely want to be hyping it from the get go. He always says "we're not marketing the game or trying to build hype". It's become his go to for CU as to why there is no gameplay footage (beyond the little bit they showed a year or so ago). This is pretty much where most people who had an interest in the game move on.
